On the article Graffiti on Historic Hose Tower Building Riles Residents

ReplyKathy:
What I've read about preventing future instances is that the graffiti should be removed promptly and the area should be watched. It sounds like the village is working on that.
About the picture: the press has an obligation to inform the public -- with all the tools available -- so that they can be aware of what’s happening and be alert for it. The crime is already done and the Greendale community should know about it, including what it looks like. Seeing the scrawl on the building is rather shocking, especially knowing the care the community is investing in the building, but I hope that's helpful in informing people of the problem. Thanks for your comment. -

ReplyI cannot believe the Packers are already behind in the poll! I don't think they're going to let this one slip away but they have to find a way to contain Peterson.

ReplyHi Shiva, I wasn't sure which of the two houses you were referring to but I added the addresses in the captions of the pictures. One of the houses is at 6509 Williamsburg Way in Caledonia and the other is at 3808 S. 104th St. in Greenfield.

ReplyHi Caledonia retiree,
This article is a summary of the criminal complaint filed in Racine County Court. You're right about the speed limit. I've checked and while the article said 40, the complaint has the speed limit as 45. I'll fix the article. I think that was a typo on our part.
Everything else in the article is an accurate summary of the complaint filed in court, which includes a copy of the police report. On that report, the officer said that he saw Wise exit the home. That doesn't mean that your neighbor didn't call 9-1-1. It's just not in the criminal complaint.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for being vigilant and on the block watch. -

ReplyI know I wasn't the only parent to hug my children when they came home today. And, as naive as it may seen, I was comforted to know that their school responded to today's tragedy by reviewing their safety procedures.

Actually, I am from around here. I live just a few blocks away. So, yeah, not happy about it, either.
