Reply"However, David MacFarland, an official with the DNR, said the agency hasn't received of that cougar sighting from its online report form." Something wrong with this sentence.

ReplyI really don't plan on retiring until I'm unable to drag myself out the door and safely drive the car down the street. Even then, I can still work on things from home. I guess it's just me, but I like to be busy and feel like what I'm doing during the day has some value. My grandpa (who lived to be 90) always said that if he sat down and watched TV all day, he'd never get up again. The most active "old folks" I know are the happiest - they either work or volunteer regularly.

On the article Racine Public Library To Shut Down For Two Days Due To Furloughs

Chris, great point about the Color Run. I went to the library on last Saturday morning during the Pancake Breakfast and the Art show just to drop off something. Traffic was crazy!
I really don't see much of a future for libraries the way we know them. I LOVE to read books and magazines in hardcopy, but I don't see that being the regular way to do things in another 10 years. I support continuing the purchase of hardcopy for now, but don't see it as a longterm plan. Longer term, I think they need to increase their internet access and continue branching out into online services. Just found out I can login to Zinio with my library card number and can read a few of my favorite magazines online for free! I would still prefer them hardcopy, but I'll go with the online since I don't have to pay for it.

Well, I'm glad that they're cutting back on library services instead of police and fire. Good call by the city. I've heard panic coming from city government and RUSD, but I've stopped paying attention recently because it's just the same thing over and over. I just searched and saw that the new budget leaves the amount of state aid to the city the same as this year, but the city says they need more because the cost of living is going up. Soo... our taxes should go up because the cost of living is going up, which pushes our cost of living up, which increases taxes, which raises our cost of living, which... Wait. I'm dizzy. :)

ReplyDenise, do you know if they're looking into financial compensation from the railroad for the delay? I've given up on this entire road and don't actually plan on being able to drive on it until at least sometime in 2014. Maybe.

There are still car hops at The Spot in south Kenosha. Great burgers there, too.
