Don't really care if it would or would not. I am a believer in the free market. They should be given a chance to compete, and the Market will decide. Protectionism is a big part of what wrecked our downtown in Port.

ReplyA well thought out and considered article Lyle. While I may not completely agree with you about the lowering of taxes, as I fundamentally believe that money is not better spent by government, I do concede that tax cuts alone are not a automatic path to success. It is far easier to show damage from raising taxes than advantage to lowering them. Again, I support lowering taxes for other reasons.
But on to your main point, I have always presented a challenge that if the progressive left wants to lure my vote, then need to present a candidate with a better plan for putting Wisconsin back to work, and does it without expanding the scope of government and raising taxes.
I agree with you that the plan needs to expand our scope of business and industry. The world is changing, and business and industry has to change with it. I really have little opinion about what type of business and industry that is, as long as it is allowed to seek its own way to grow and thrive as a capitalistic society should. As long as we are encouraging new business with the plan of putting our citizens back to work, and not using this as some form of social engineering, I will sign up for it.
I will even agree with you somewhat for education. The teachers really aren't the problem. They are the symptom of a system and process that has fought change, accountability, or innovation for thirty years. A more systematic change is needed for education.

"not much kickback on those incidents either"
Not much kickback! Really? Were you just not paying attention, or going with the usual liberal line of lying to make your point? Bush took a huge amount of flak for just about everything he did. Certainly far more than the soft gloves and velvet love that Obama continues to get from the media.
And secondly, it still has never been proven that anyone lied about WMD's. Simply the fact that WMD's had never been found and may not have been there, does not mean they lied.
You judge a mans actions by what they knew at the time they made the decision. Everyone, on both sides of the fence, based on what they knew at the time, thought there were WMD's there. To declare it a lie, you have to prove more than just that the information was incorrect or not validated.

Cops are like all humans. Some are good, some are bad, some inbetween. I know some of both. But Stereotyping all of them Arnie isn't any morally or technically correct than any other form of bigotry or stereotyping.
But until I find otherwise, I assume honor and respect. They take on a job that no one else wants. My daughter wants to be one, and I support her decision. The fact that you already have her pigeonholed as dishonest frankly offends me.
Do you want to see good cops, just watch the video from Boston. When everyone is running away from the explosions, they are running towards it.

No Michael. Repressing others opinions is a liberal approach. Being conservative means being better than that.

You have to be cautious of that deer lobby. They are better organized than you would think.

I guess I have to agree with BW. I was somewhat disturbed by his comments on voting. I probably am one that has made those divergent claims, and it isn't consistent for me to call for restrictions on voting but not on firearms. I am going to have to give that some consideration.
I don't have any real strong opinion against expanded background checks. I would consider that a reasonable administrative process as BW calls it, and it does have popular support. I guess I can consider that.

I tend to agree with you BW. Sometimes I think we shoot ourselves in the foot so to speak by opposing ALL gun legislation, be it reasonable or reasonable.
I found your point on voting particularly disturbing, in only that I was one of those making that divergent claim. I am going to have to give some consideration to that.

Actually Lyle, what occurred in Germany is very understandable to those who have studied it.
A charismatic leader, taking advantage of national economic difficulty, subsumed control of the German socialist and labor parties. Then using the concepts of class warfare and "us versus them" approach to politics, used that to rise to power and politically dominate the country.
If this sounds familiar, it should. But here, it didn't work quite so well. The socialists in power have, and are continuing to get sufficient push back to prevent them from leading us too far down that path. True, damage has been done, but nothing yet that cannot be fixed.

I am not going to Harsh on Brian for this. He has found a cause that he clearly believes in, and he has turned that passion into his profession. That is I believe the American way.
Congratulations Brian. I hope it turns out well for you.
