Made from Scratch: Mozzaluna's Signature Pizzas Use Italian Flour, Fresh Ingredients

The family-owned restaurant is inside Stonewood Village and uses fresh ingredients for a uniquely delicious taste. Watch this video while pizza is made in a stone, wood-fire oven.

Mozzaluna Pizzeria and Ristorante's cooking is as unique as its name.

Neopolitan style pizzas are made using fresh ingredients, including a special type of flour shipped from Italy to help perfect the crust, according to owner Phil LeClaire. The pizzas are then cooked at about 600 degrees in the restaurant's stone, wood-fired oven.

The menu also features pastas, sandwiches and homemade soups, and the restaurant will also do its best to accomodate unique orders.

"Our chefs are really (excellent) quality," LeClaire said. "They like the curve balls from time to time."

Mozzaluna the name is a play on words, a combination of mozzarella cheese and a knife known as a "mezzaluna," which features a curved blade.

The restaurant opened in May 2012, and LeClaire said they have worked hard to employ a sense of community for patrons, building relationships all the while serving tasty dishes.

The restaurant is located inside Stonewood Village at 17700 W. Capitol Dr.
