Police Reports: Girls Say They Were Chased by 2 Men

13-year-olds say young men harassed and pursued them in neighborhood just north of Capitol Drive around 143rd St.


At 10:50 p.m. June 26, three 13-year-old Brookfield girls reported that they had been chased by two young men, whom they thought to be in their early 20s, and that the men had shouted vulgarities at them.

They were starting home from a park-like area near 143rd and Woodland and said they’d seen the two men there drinking and smoking cigarettes.

The girls ran to a neighbor’s house, who called police. She said she’d heard the girls screaming loudly as they approached. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

'Canoodling'

At 12:03 a.m. June 23, after a resident of the 18000 block of St. James Road called in a suspicious car parked in front of his residence, two 18-year-old Brookfield men were given a talking to by police and sent on their way.

A police officer reported that he found them “canoodling and saying goodnight” in the back seat of the car. He advised them to take care of their business in a private area. 

Robbery

At 10:01 a.m. June 23, police were called to the Pick ‘n Save at 17295 W. Capitol Dr. after a young woman went to the pharmacy counter and said a bomb would go off if she wasn’t given Oxycodone.

She made off with three bottles of the narcotic, and no sign of a bomb was found.

Burglaries

Break-ins were reported on June 19 in the 4400 block of North 134th Street and the 13000 block of Hope Street. No further details were available from the police except that they believe the burglaries may be related to at least one other last year.

Operating while intoxicated

At 12:21 a.m. June 26, a 41-year-old New York man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, first offense, when he was spotted by a patrol officer zooming through the drive-through lane at the McDonald’s at 300 N. Moorland Rd. and then driving fast and reckless through the parking lot, spinning his tires. The driver failed sobriety tests and blew a .21 blood alcohol content on a breath test.

At 12:27 a.m. June 23, a 37-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, third offense, after he ran a red light and made an illegal U-turn at Moorland Road and I-94. He failed sobriety tests and was taken for a blood draw.

At 1:52 p.m. June 23, Brookfield police were called to assist at the Holiday Inn in Pewaukee on a report of a possibly intoxicated man circling the parking lot in his car and asking girls and women for lap dances. There were two wedding receptions in progress at the hotel, and several women reported the man's behavior. He was stopped by a Brookfield officer who reported the man was evidently intoxicated and referred the matter to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office.

At 2:21 a.m. June 21, a 45-year-old Menomonee Falls man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, first offense, after he tipped over his motorcycle at Lisbon and Calhoun roads. He was not injured. He failed sobriety tests and hit a .22 BAC on a breath test.

Drugs

At 4:47 p.m. June 22, two men, one 24 and one 36, were arrested for possession of marijuana after a caller told police they were rolling and smoking a joint at Capitol Drive and Westfield Way in Pewaukee. They were pulled over in Brookfield on Capitol at Calhoun Road and arrested.

Retail thefts

At 1:34 p.m. June 25, three Milwaukee women, one 20 and two 21, were arrested for theft from TJ Maxx at 12575 W. Capitol Dr. for trying to steal $261.78 worth of merchandise between them. One of the women had four valid warrants for theft, driving without a license, driving with no insurance and writing checks with insufficient funds.    

At 5:08 p.m. June 25, Boston Store at 15875 Blue Mound reported an unknown man entered the store and stole eight Michael Kore purses with a retail value of $2,446, escaping in a blue sedan.

At 6:30 p.m. June 25, three Milwaukee women with two small children in tow were arrested at the TJ Maxx store on Blue Mound Road, a 17-year-old girl for state charges of theft and obstructing, an 18-year-old for state theft charges, and another 18-year-old on an outstanding warrant. Between them, they had $294.77 of store merchandise.

At 4:34 p.m. June 21, three 15-year-old Muskego girls were arrested for theft from JC Penney at Brookfield Square, with $180 worth of that store's merchandise between them. But they were also in possession of stolen property from a few other stores: Aeropostale, H&M, Pacific Sunwear, Claires, Tilly’s, Victoria’s Secret, Old Navy, American Eagle, Spencer’s Gifts, Bath and Body, Maurices and Windsor.

At 5:24 p.m. June 21, a 19-year-old Brookfield woman was arrested for theft from Kohl’s after she was seen hiding a pair of shorts, a sweatshirt and a top, all worth worth $82, in a book bag.

At 12:27 p.m. June 20, two Milwaukee women, one 28 and one 48, were arrested for felony retail theft from Kohl’s, 2315 N. 124th St. and were referred to the office of the district attorney. The older woman was found with merchandise worth $1,169, the younger with $734 worth.

At 5:14 p.m. June 19, two Milwaukee women, one 28 and one 29, were arrested for theft from the TJ Maxx store at 17460 Blue Mound Rd. after they were seen popping sensor tags off merchandise, hiding the clothing in bags and trying to leave without paying for about $550 worth of merchandise. Both were also arrested for bail jumping on earlier charges.

Just acting stupid

At 5:59 p.m. June 23, two men, one 43 years old from Waukesha and one 40 years old from New Berlin, were cited for violating Brookfield's ordinance against consuming liquor in a public park after the older man was found passed out in the men’s locker room at Wirth Park. The caller woke him and told him to go outside, whereupon he went right back to sleep.
